Why convert WebP back to JPG at all?
WebP is well supported in browsers but still rejected by some desktop apps, legacy CMS platforms, printers and government upload forms. JPG is the safe common denominator when compatibility matters more than file size.
What happens to the transparent background?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent pixels are replaced with solid white. For graphics that must keep a see-through background, convert to PNG instead.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Decoding and encoding both happen inside your browser. The file stays on your device from start to finish.
Will the quality drop after conversion?
The converter uses a high default quality (92%). The difference is visually imperceptible for photos and screenshots; if you need the absolute smallest file, use the image compressor afterwards.
