Color Picker from Image
Matching a color you can see but cannot name is a daily problem in front-end work, slide design and photo retouching.
How to use
- Drop a PNG, JPG or WebP into the upload area.
- Click any point on the image to sample that pixel.
- Copy the color as HEX, RGB or HSL with one click.
- Revisit your last eight picks in the session history.
Frequently asked questions
Which color formats are provided?
Every pick is shown as HEX (#1A73E8), RGB (rgb(26, 115, 232)) and HSL (hsl(214, 82%, 51%)), each with a copy button. HEX suits CSS and design tools, RGB suits alpha tweaks, HSL suits building shade variations.
How accurate is the picked color?
It is the exact pixel under your click — no averaging over neighbors. On photos a single pixel can carry compression noise, so sample a flat area or zoom in first if you need the representative tone.
Why does the history disappear when I reload?
The history is a small in-session list kept in the page (at most eight picks) and is intentionally not persisted. Nothing about your images or colors is stored or transmitted anywhere.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is decoded locally and colors are read from canvas pixels in your browser. Unreleased designs and private screenshots never leave your device.
What happens when I click exactly on the edge?
Clicks map to the closest valid pixel, so edge clicks return the last row or column instead of failing. Coordinates coming from the API are validated strictly and out-of-range values are rejected with an explicit error.
Does a zoomed or scaled display change the result?
No. Click positions are mapped from the displayed size back to the image resolution, so the sampled pixel is the true underlying pixel regardless of how the browser scales the picture on screen.

About this tool
Matching a color you can see but cannot name is a daily problem in front-end work, slide design and photo retouching. This tool turns any PNG, JPG or WebP into a color source: drop the image in, click the exact pixel you care about, and read the color as HEX, RGB and HSL at once, each with its own one-click copy button. HEX drops straight into CSS custom properties and design tokens; RGB fits rgba() tweaks and canvas code; HSL makes it easy to build lighter and darker shades of the same hue. A session history keeps your last eight picks as swatches, so comparing the candidate palette of a screenshot takes seconds. Colors are read from the decoded pixels in your browser with a canvas tuned for frequent reads (willReadFrequently) — the image is never uploaded, so unreleased designs and private screenshots stay on your device. Clicking near the image edge resolves to the closest valid pixel, and every value shown is computed from the exact pixel you clicked, with no averaging or smoothing.
